BOB COLLYMORE FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES INAUGURAL JAZZ FESTIVAL

The Bob Collymore Foundation (BCF) has announced the very first event in a series of Jazz Festivals for the Kenyan market, as part of the BC International Jazz Festival Series (BCIJF). 

The highly anticipated event which will take place at the Carnivore Grounds on July 1, 2023.  The event will feature the sensational Nairobi Horns Project, the prolific Jacob Asiyo, the vibrant afro-fusion band Shamsi Music, the dynamic Edward Pareseen, and stellar guitarist Jack Maguna.

“We’re very excited to be bringing a Jazz festival of this scale back to the Nairobi scene, even as we plan to create a solid calendar for fans going forward,” said Wambui Collymore, Festival Director, BCIJF. “We shall nurture the continued growth of the Jazz market, while building opportunities for underprivileged audiences and children to experience the transformative power of music.”

Through its partnership with Ghetto Classics, part of the proceeds shall go towards providing  music education to over 300 underprivileged youth with the aim of transforming their lives and offering them a chance to build careers in music. 

Fan favourites such as the Safaricom Youth Orchestra and DJ D-Lite shall also perform at the event. “With such an incredible diversity of musical performances to enjoy, this year’s Festival promises to celebrate our amazing jazz talent and to recognise the way in which jazz music has been part of the Kenyan fabric since the 1960s,” said Kavutha Mwanzia-Asiyo, Music Director for the event.

“We are crafting a specialised experience for all our guests in what will be the ultimate family event. We can promise an optimised live music event as we embark on a spectacular musical journey led by phenomenal local talent and activities for all of the family,” said Zaheeda Suleman-Arain, Event Director, BCIJF.

Since its launch in 2020, the Bob Collymore Foundation has worked to create platforms to promote sustainable business, nurturing the arts and inspiring business for good. The Foundation believes that a people-centered approach is the core of a sustainable business.
