KAGWE MUNGAI RELEASES SECOND STUDIO ALBUM RADA
Renowned Kenyan musician, producer, and entrepreneur Kagwe Mungai, has released his much-awaited second studio album titled Rada. The 15-track album features collaborations with Redfourth Chorus, Ndovu Kuu, Matata, King Kaka, Fena Gitu, Mayonde, Nameless, Collo, Femi One, MFR Souls and Tina Ardor.
The release commemorates Kagwe’s 10 year career in the music industry. Rada is the rebirth of Kagwe as an artist that has grown and made a significant contribution in shaping the industry through years of craftsmanship and experience. Following the massive success of his debut album, Spectrum, which garnered critical acclaim, Mungai has been working diligently to curate a truly exceptional follow-up.
Rada is a compilation of tracks paying homage to the evolution of Kenyan music from being majorly influenced by the rhythms and sounds of traditional instruments, to the huge shift in the eighties to early nineties towards genge, pop, and kapuka, where local artists started incorporating a wider range of instruments, sounds and styles to their music.
In the album, Kagwe samples music from the pioneering artists such as Harry Kimani, Nameless, E-Sir, The Mushrooms among others who from these periods who paved the way for the vibrant modern music industry as we know it now. Rada not only showcases Kagwe’s exceptional musicality but also serves as a reminder of the lasting impact these pioneers have had on the Kenyan music landscape.
