Ali Kiba’s wife Amina Khalef is seeking a divorce from the singer on the grounds of alleged abuse. In a statement, Amina said she is tired of being disrespected publicly, “I saw that there is a need to address, I think this has continued too much! I am tired of being disrespected publicly while people do not understand the situation in the name of someone’s wife!”

Amina also stated she left the Tanzanian musician but he has refused to sign the divorce papers, “I left you to avoid pain, abuse and a lot of things, but until today, you don’t want to give me a divorce. While you are free to do your things and keep me in the shadow of someone’s wife. In the name of protecting ‘the brand’ as you said, I kindly ask you to sign the papers so that I can get my divorce and everyone can move on freely, thank you.”

In February 2022, Amina filed for divorce claiming the popular singer deserted her and their two children. According to papers filed at the Mombasa Kadhi’s court, said the marriage is irretrievably broken, hence the need to get it over and done with once and for all.

Amina cited constant squabbles with the singer’s friends and family members who lived with them at their matrimonial home which they had moved into following their flashy April 19, 2018 wedding. She stated that the disagreements caused her mental anguish, leading to her leaving their home in October the same year they walked down the aisle while pregnant with their first child.

Amina said Ali Kiba did not even cover the hospital bills for when she gave birth to their son on February 19, 2019; adding that, upon her return home, the situation only went from bad to worse, with the singer allegedly even being verbally abusive towards her. Further, she said he was unwilling to provide for her and their child, and would only do so every once in a blue moon after persistent pestering.

Despite reaching out to Kiba to try to resolve their matrimonial disputes, Kiba has been unwilling and unresponsive to the petitioner’s efforts. It would be in the interest of justice that the marriage be dissolved.” read court papers.
