RENOWNED GRAFFITI ARTIST BANKSLAVE DEDICATES NEW MURAL TO E-SIR
Renowned Kenyan graffiti artist Bankslave dedicated his new street mural to popular musician E-Sir.
Bankslave unveiled his latest mural at Fort Jesus in Mombasa, “Chrome and Black piece of #esir on walls of FortJesus. Labelled the founding father of Kenyan grafitti art by CNN, Bankslave is the man behind most graffiti arts around Nairobi city. For more than 21 years, the graffiti artist has been making social and political commentary on Nairobi’s street walls.
Bankslave’s work has also depicted famous personalities such as former US President Barack Obama, marathon runner Eliud Kipchoge, actress Lupita Nyong’o and singer Miriam Makeba, “Street art is not selfish; it brings colour to the world and brings out Nairobi’s character and people, a way to express Nairobi in a cool way,” he said in a past interview. He has also won a number of competitions among them the second edition of Hennessey My Graffiti in 2016.
