PAPA SHIRANDULA PRODUCER KIBWANA ONGUSO PASSES AWAY

Celebrated TV producer Kibwana Onguso, known for his shows Tausi, Tahamaki, Kisulisuli, Papa Shirandula, Inspector Mwala and Mahoka has passed away.

The 59 year old producer died at his Lucky Summer home on Saturday, September 9. “It’s with great sorrow that I convey the death of my producer Kibwana Onguso . He passed on yesterday morning. Kibwana will be remembered for producing television drama series like Tausi, Tahamaki, Kisulisuli, Papa Shirandula, Inspector Mwala, Mahoka and many more drama series. He is the guy who moulded us into fame by nurturing our talents and giving us direction. May he rest in eternal peace and may his legacy live on. Fare thee well Kiongozi.” Papa Shirandula actress Mama Nyaguthii wrote.

Deejay Pierra Makena remembered him for giving her a chance to star in Tausi. “I was 17yrs when Kibwana Onguso gave me a chance to be on TV. Long story short I was performing during the National drama festival and I happened to be awarded best performing act and thanks to KBC coverage and Nation Media through Antony a writer/photographer highlighted my story and boom Kibwana Onguso looked for me. 

I was in High-school and when the principal came to break the news that KBC through the best producer then he was producing Tausi was looking for me.i knew i made it out of the village. Tausi. A show I really wanted to be in……my parents agreed and I came to Nairobi right after my KCSE. And as they say the rest is history. He believed in me… rest in the power you shared Kibwana.”
