‘ANGELA WAS MADE BY MISTAKE’ BOUTROSS REVEALS

Kenyan rapper Boutross Munene has opened up about the making of his hit single Angela.

Speaking on VIP Access podcast with Anyiko Owoko, Boutross said he never knew the song was going to be a mega hit, “I actually thought it was gonna be a hit but this became a mega hit, 4 billion views and it was all over, I didn’t know you can go to a different place like mashinani and someone just knows you, even grandmothers because they have seen their daughters watch you. TikTok was crazy, it really amazed me.” 

Boutross further disclosed the song was made by mistake, “There is no one called Angela, funny enough I had a friend called Angela and but I have never hit on a girl called Angela. Angela was supposed to be used as a phrase to give men preference. Every man has their own preferences so when they say, ‘that’s my Angela.’ It just means that’s my type of girl.

The song was made by mistake, it wasn’t supposed to be recorded, there was another song we were supposed to record but ran late for an hour so we decided to just record something to pass time. It turned out it was the biggest song that was going to change our lives.”
