‘I HAVE NOT RECEIVED SH200,000 PRIZE MONEY’ KALASHA WINNER FATUO HASSAN REVEALS

2022 Kalasha Award winner for Best Costume design Fatuo Hassan has said she is yet to receive her Kalasha Award prize money from Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and Kenya Film Commission. 

Speaking to Cheptoek Boyo on Buzz Central podcast, Fatou said, “I have not received the Sh200,000 they promised, they sent us an email and we sent our bank details but I have never seen the money. I won Best Costume Design for the film Ayaanle. At least they remembered the department that they always pretend is not important but they can’t stay without art.” 

Organised by Kenya Film Commission, winners of 2022 Kalasha Awards were set to receive Sh100,00 prize money each until Cabinet secretary Ababu Namwamba promised to double the amount to Sh200,000.
