‘SOMALI MEN FEAR ME’ FILM MAKE-UP ARTIST FATUO HASSAN EXPLAINS

Kalasha award winning make-up artist Fatou Hassan has opened up about dating.

Speaking on Buzz Central, Fatuo explained why she is single, “In Somali culture we wear gold rings in our hands and it means nothing. I have been busy building my career and I also take care of my mum and nephews. I have tried relationships but it doesn’t work.” 

She added that though she has dated men from other tribes, Somali men fear her, “I was asking myself if we women have become difficult or maybe we are asking for too much. There are so many things going on but I always say God’s time is the best.  I’m looking for someone who understands my work. I have dated other tribes but Somali men fear me, they think I’m too independent and my signature red hair is not helping.”

Fatou also talked about walking out on a toxic TV series set, “I have rejected a project because the production company was toxic. I started and it reached a point they were too toxic for me and I walked away for my peace. It was a TV series, when I walked off I felt so good. Nowadays I make sure I feel the energy when I’m going to production houses, if I feel it is bad, I’m like, let me go home and sleep.”
