TABASAMU ACTOR ALAN OYUGI ON LOSING HIS WIFE

By  |

Popular Tabasamu actor Alan Oyugi known for his role as Loton sat down with Cheptoek Boyo and spoke about his life as a single father.

In an interview with Buzz Central Podcast, Alan revealed he met his wife in a matatu, “I found my wife in a very interesting way, in early 1996, while I was going to work she boarded a matatu I was in and came and sat next me. It was just the two of us, we started talking and knowing each other. By 1998, I knew she was the one and we wedded in 1999.”

Alan decided to quit his job as a stage actor and relocated with her to Tanzania, “My wife got a teaching job in Tanzania and we relocated. We welcomed our first kid but he needed an emergency operation which could not be done in Dar es Salam so we flew him to Nairobi Hospital. They could not treat it and referred us to Kenyatta National Hospital but all the doctors said they couldn’t perform the operation.

My son had tracheo-oesophageal fistula (TOF). His oesophagus had not formed well and he could not eat anything. He had stayed for days without eating but doctor Fred Kambuni offered to try the operation and it went well, he is now a grown man.”

Sadly in 2012 he lost his wife, “In 2012 she got sick and passed away. But I thank God, without him I would not be able to raise my kids but they are now adults, very responsible young men. They support me so much.”
