LUPITA NYONG’O CELEBRATES NAIROBI IN A JAMHURI DAY TRIBUTE

Lupita Nyong’o took a moment on Jamhuri Day to honour the vibrant city of Nairobi. As the nation celebrated its independence, Nyong’o shared a heartfelt expression of gratitude for the city that holds a special place in her heart.

“I ❤️ the continent I am from. I want to share some of the wonderful things about it. What better way to start than by celebrating Kenya on #JamhuriDay with a tribute to Nairobi! 🇰🇪 Part 1 of 3 #LoveAfrica #IndependenceDay,” she said.

The Academy Award-winning actress, known for her remarkable performances on the global stage, took to social media to convey her deep appreciation for Nairobi’s rich cultural heritage and the unbeatable spirit of its people. 

In a love letter to Nairobi, Nyong’o wrote,  “Dear Nairobi, you start from the first moment, don’t you? The smell of the chapati dough. The street vendor working hard to make the food that hooks me right in and that’s how it all begins with the food.

The effort and care that goes into every single morsel, every meal is made with love by the people I love. It’s the warmth of the family and the strength of the community and joy it connects us all. It gets in your bones until it all bursts out in a celebration of life so cheers to you Nairobi, I love you.”
