TIKTOK TOP CREATOR AWARDS: KENYANS NOMINATED IN 7 CATEGORIES

TikTok announced the nominees of the annual #TopCreator2023 – 2nd annual award ceremony that recognises and awards TikTok creators across Sub-Saharan Africa for the immense talent and creativity they brought to the platform in 2023.

TikTok has unveiled a list of the best content creators across Southern Africa who will stand a chance of being crowned TikTok #TopCreator2023. The awards ceremony will take place in Johannesburg on February 9, 2024. Kenyan Content Creators were nominated in seven out of the eight categories.

Sports creator of the year in Sub-Saharan Africa, Kenyan Sports channel Boxtoboxregista was nominated, “We love ball very much and we try to give fans a place where they can play!”

Samantha, popularly known as Someothergir was nominated for Gaming creator of the year in Sub-Saharan Africa. Although she summarises herself as a Twitch Streamer & Content Creator, she is more than that. Amongst other accolades, she has in the past participated in tournaments including the Tusker Nexters, CommonWealth eSports Championships qualifiers and also won for Kenya in a FIFA Ultimate Team friendly against Ghana. She is a Twitch Affiliate and loves playing Apex Legends.

Life Story 328 a channel by Friday Njeri and Eugene Kinyanjui scooped the Entertainment creator of the year in Sub-Saharan Africa nomination. The viral dating duo who have been trending on TikTok share their life stories as they live life day by day.

Food critic Shaheed Ali Khan also known as Sak was nominated for Lifestyle and Education creator of the year in Sub-Saharan Africa. Born in Mombasa but living in Nairobi, Kenya, you can clearly see that Ali love’s food and eating – be it street food or fine dining. If you do not love to cook from scratch like Dennis Ombachi or Sue Owino and instead travel and eat out, Ali’s channel is definitely one to check to look out for the best places to eat from.

Digital Content Creator Kinuthia Kelvin earned Trailblazer (Emerging) of the year in Sub-Saharan Africa nomination. He is a bold, funny and unapologetic Digital Content Creator. He loves to dress like a fashionable woman complete with wigs, high heels and well manicured nails. His inclusion on the list of emerging content creators on TikTok in Sub-Saharan Africa is another momentous chapter to his amazing life.

The media company operates in several African countries, including Kenya.
