CELESTINE GACHUHI AND PHIL KIMEMIA LAUNCH SIMAMA INITIATIVE
Renowned actress Celestine Gachuhi and her baby daddy Phil Kimemia have announced the launch of Simama, a groundbreaking podcast initiative that aims to be a voice against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) through inspiring and educational content.
The duo also released a theme song designed to boost their efforts to end GBV. The song’s message is clear: victims are encouraged to stand up and speak out against any form of violence they may be experiencing or witnessing. With its melodious and easy-to-remember tune, the song is poised to become a campaign anthem for various organizations working tirelessly in the GBV space.
“We believe that music has the power to transcend boundaries and unite people under a common cause. The theme song is just the beginning of our efforts to raise awareness and encourage action against Gender-Based Violence,” said the songwriter – Phil Kimemia
Simama which translates to Stand Up in Swahili, is set to deliver impactful and empowering content through 1-hour episodes released twice a month. The format will feature interview-style conversations between Celestine Gachuhi (the host) and guests, including triumphant survivors of GBV and professionals working in the advocacy space. Unlike traditional narratives that often focus on the victim’s perspective, Simama aims to provide a platform for sharing solutions and insights, ultimately focusing on empowerment.
