DADDY OWEN ADVOCATES FOR MONUMENT IN HONOUR OF KELVIN KIPTUM
Kenyan musician Daddy Owen has paid tribute to late athlete Kelvin Kiptum by visiting the site of the tragic accident and advocating for the erection of a monument in his honour.
Kiptum, a promising athletics star, tragically lost his life in the accident, prompting an outpouring of grief from across the nation.
Upon visiting the location where the accident occurred, he was disheartened to witness numerous Kenyans taking photos and videos at the site, highlighting the need for a more respectful and dignified memorial.
“Had to pay homage to Kelvin Kiptum, visited the spot where the accident happened, found so many people taking photos and videos as well, a monument should be erected to commemorate this athletics hero,” he wrote on his X account.
Kiptum and his Rwandese coach Garvais Hakizimana tragically lost their lives in a fatal accident along the Eldoret-Kaptagat Road on February 11, 2024.
