SINGER RUTH MATETE ACQUITTED IN HUSBAND’S DEATH CASE
Renowned gospel singer Ruth Matete has announced the conclusion of a challenging four-year legal battle.
In a lengthy post on Facebook, Matete shared her journey, recounting the tragic loss of her husband and the intense scrutiny she faced afterward. She mentioned that the journey began with a joyous event—her wedding—but quickly took a tragic turn when her husband died just four months after they married.
The sudden loss not only brought overwhelming grief but also led to public speculation and accusations that she was involved in her husband’s death.”The news circulated like wildfire,” Matete wrote, “Bloggers said the same thing. All they needed to do was change the topic of their story so they could own it.”
She also revealed that she was barred from burying her husband for three months, with items confiscated as part of the investigation. “Stuff was taken away from me as exhibits. Three phones and two gas cylinders. The small one that caused the accident and the big one that was working. The small one was later confiscated. I later got my baby and tried to move on. I kept serving God.”
A turning point came on April 25, 2024, when the court case against Matete was officially closed. “A few days ago, the court case that had been hanging over my head, was finally closed. I was declared free. The case is over. The file is closed. To the glory of God! I got back the gas cylinder and the three phones I will keep serving God. I will keep doing what He created me for. I sure don’t look like what I have been through. It’s all to the glory of God!”
