Renowned TV presenter Lulu Hassan has paid a touching tribute to the late actress Winnie Bwire, following the news of her passing.

In an emotional statement shared on her social media, Lulu shared her deep admiration for Bwire, who was beloved by many in the entertainment industry. “I really loved this lady,” said Lulu. “For my satisfaction, I shed tears yesterday before sleeping, after watching videos of her on TikTok, not believing she is no more. Now I wanna say may her soul rest in eternal peace forever.”

The actress succumbed to breast cancer on September 5, 2024, while undergoing treatment in Turkey, according to her family. In an emotional statement, the family expressed their grief: “It is with heavy hearts and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce Winfred Bwire Ndubi lost her battle to cancer on 5th September, 2024, while undergoing treatment in Turkey. We thank you all for your overwhelming support, prayers, and generous giving during her treatment. We will share more details in due course. God bless you all.

Bwire’s battle with cancer began over three years ago. She initially experienced swelling and discomfort under her armpits, which was dismissed as a common infection. However, as the pain persisted, she sought further medical advice.

On Sunday, September 8, the body of the actress arrived at Moi International Airport in Mombasa ahead of the burial. Family members, friends, and colleagues from the entertainment industry gathered to receive her body, “For us, as a family, we can say it is good she has rested. For those who may not know, Winnie has suffered a lot. She was a strong person and put up a brave face and people never knew what she was going through. She never cried during the tough time, but she suffered quite a lot.

Adding, “God decided the best way was for her to rest. We thank God for having given us Winnie. She was also an inspiration to us as parents, but now that she has gone, we pray God can place her soul in eternal peace.”

Her body was taken to Pandya Mortuary, where her family gathered to pay their respects. Winnie’s funeral is scheduled for September 21 in her hometown of Matungu, Kakamega County.
