KENYA’S QUEEN ARROW TO COMPETE AT MZANSI ESPORTS CHAMPIONS

Kenyan esports sensation Sylvia Gathoni Wahome, famously known as Queen Arrow, is set to represent her country at Mzansi Esports Champions 2024. 

Taking place during the rAge Expo in Johannesburg from November 30 to December 1, the event will spotlight Africa’s leading female esports players, competing in the Tekken Africa Queens Challenge for a share of the $2,500 prize pool. 

Organized by SAGES Africa and supported by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the challenge aims to elevate female talent and foster inclusivity in gaming. Queen Arrow, hailed as a trailblazer in esports, will join top players from eight Southern African nations in showcasing their skills and advancing discussions on female entrepreneurship in the gaming industry.

The players are: Setsabile Shabangu “Sugar”Liteboho Thebe “EL”Safidy Andrianisoa “Sentaku”Matimbe Gweyneth Edina “Gwyn Stacy”Asante-Sana Maruwasa “ATMBYTES”Zahraa Khan “Iron-Fist” and Bwalya Nkumbula “LiaRose”.

Matches will follow a double-elimination format, with live streaming on Twitch and YouTube for audiences worldwide. “We are determined to create an environment where African esports talent can thrive and compete at the global level. Through strategic partnerships like the one established with the Institut français, we are ensuring that Africa becomes an essential player in the global esports ecosystem,” said Désiré Koussawo, President of SAGES Africa.
