‘LEAVE WOMEN’S MONEY, IT IS POISON’ DR. OFWENEKE WEIGHS IN ON ALMA AND BOYFRIEND’S RELATIONSHIP
Media personality and comedian Dr. Ofweneke has weighed in on a heated online discussion. This comes in the wake of Alma Mutheu and her boyfriend, fellow content creator Gift Musiq, airing their relationship grievances during an appearance on Obinna’s show.
The episode quickly became a trending topic, prompting Dr. Ofweneke to share his perspective on the evolving dynamics of relationships in the modern era. Dr. Ofweneke called on the younger generation to approach the topic of traditional gender roles with an open mind. “Women were not born to take care of themselves; it was a command from the beginning,” he said, referencing Biblical principles.
He noted that men should shoulder responsibilities such as paying bills and providing for their families, as these roles were divinely established. “When a woman contributes financially, it feels extraordinary to her because it isn’t her primary responsibility. But for a man, paying bills and providing is a given, it’s expected,” he explained.
On the concept of 50/50 in relationships Dr. Ofweneke cautioned against adopting a 50/50 approach in relationships, which he believes undermines traditional gender dynamics and leads to conflict. “When you allow a woman to come in 50/50 she’ll even come home late at the same time you do, because it’s 50/50 she will talk to you the way she likes because it’s 50/50 she will only give you 50% because she brings in the other 50%. Leave women’s money; it is poison,” he asserted, urging men to focus on being financially independent before considering marriage.
Speaking directly to young men, Dr. Ofweneke advised against marrying in their 20s. “Find yourself, find money, and be stable mentally, emotionally, and psychologically before taking on the responsibilities of marriage,” he said, adding that marriage remains challenging even for those in their 30s and 40s.
