PROTESTORS FORCE KASMUEL MCOURE TO LEAVE ANTI-FEMICIDE MARCH

By  |

Tensions ran high during the anti-femicide protest in Nairobi, as protestors demanded the departure of Kasmuel McOure, who joined the march to advocate for the rights of women and against gender-based violence

McOure faced backlash from some participants who questioned the appropriateness of his presence at the march. Amid chants and boos, he made the decision to leave, later addressing the incident on his social media platforms. “I marched today, got booed, but still showed up. I always will. #EndFemicideKE,” he stated on his X account.

Explaining his decision to step away, “I left because some protestors felt my presence wasn’t appropriate. I didn’t see the need to center myself in today’s march after such clear feedback. This is a cause I’ve always supported and stood up for, even when it drew harsh criticism back in March. Regardless, I’ll continue to stand for what I believe in. #EndFemicideKE.”

The protest, organised to draw attention to the escalating cases of femicide and gender-based violence in Kenya, attracted widespread participation, including activists, survivors, and allies.
