COAST-BASED MUSICIAN KAA LA MOTO LOSES FATHER TO CANCER
Coast-based musician Kaa La Moto Kiumbe is mourning the death of his father, who passed away on January 5 after a courageous battle with cancer.
In a statement, Kaa La Moto paid tribute to his late father, saying, “I can’t believe I am writing this or posting ‘We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.’ Rest father, I am speechless, but I have to stay strong for the family you have left me with. May the Almighty God receive you among those who were good before you and give you a firm statement.”
His father was laid to rest on January 6 following prayers held at Masjid Tawheed Mgongeni in Mombasa County. He was then buried at Kauma, near Jaribuni Secondary School in Kilifi County.
After his burial, the hip hop artiste shared an emotional message on his social media page, “I was a father, even when you were alive. But yesterday, you gave me a sudden appointment to be the father of the city and the head of your family and clan! I wish I had known earlier; maybe I would have planned more, but God’s pen does not fail! You have entered my book of heroes for how you fought the whole year against cancer. Go father, I will always love you and follow your teachings.“
He thanked Coast General Hospital and its Cancer Center for their care, as well as to those who stood by his family during this difficult time. Among those who offered support were Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir, Speaker Hon. Aharub Khatri, friends and fellow artists.
Kaa La Moto honoured his father’s legacy of unity and love for people regardless of their differences in religion, tribe, or ideology. “In his life, father insisted on unity, loving family and people without looking at their differences. I am sure when he slept, he saw a great collaboration with him. May his soul rest in peace.“
