MURUGI MUNYI BREAKS DOWN HER VIRAL SH34,000 MONTHLY MAINTENANCE WEEK
Popular content creator and podcaster Murugi Munyi went viral online after sharing a detailed vlog breaking down the costs of her maintenance week.
In the video, Murugi broke down the expenses of maintaining her appearance as a Nairobi girl, “The next time your man sends you Sh10,000 and thinks that it’s enough for a maintenance week. Please send him this video so he knows how expensive life is for a Nairobi girl. This is how much my average monthly maintenance costs,” she said.
Murugi started with her hair, spending Sh500 to undo her previous style and Sh6,500 on a treatment by her trusted stylist, Patrick. She praised the outcome, calling it ‘really, really beautiful.’
To manage her hair growth, she visited Kenyatta Market the next day, spending Sh1,140 on braids and Sh2,500 on braiding hair totalling Sh3,640. Her nail appointment with Alex cost Sh4,000, as she aims to be ‘extra’ with her nails this year. After coastal activities, her lashes needed a touch-up, costing Sh2,000. Describing her toes as ghetto, Murugi treated herself to a relaxing pedicure for Sh3,000, calling it the most enjoyable part of her maintenance routine.
A post-coastal facial was a must for hydration and moisturization, Sh6,500. Murugi spent Sh8,250 on laser treatments for her underarms and private areas. Grand Total, Sh34,390
Murugi concluded the video by saying, “Sir, send them all money.” The video has sparked debates about the cost of beauty standards and the financial realities of self-care in Nairobi.
