WANGECHI AND DADDY OWEN SPEAK ON KENYAN CELEBRITIES LIVING BEYOND THEIR MEANS 

Kenyan rapper Wangechi and celebrated gospel musician Daddy Owen have sparked conversations about the financial realities of Kenyan celebrities, shedding light on a culture of celebrities living beyond their means that extends beyond the entertainment industry. 

Taking on her X account, Wangechi revealed, “90% of Kenyan celebrities fake their lifestyle. There’s not enough money circulating in the industry for the luxury life you see being posted. Stay woke.” 

Her sentiments were echoed by Daddy Owen, who expanded the discussion to include the general public’s reliance on credit and debt. “Most Kenyans live beyond their means,” he stated. “Azziad’s story is simply more sensational because she’s a celebrity. Many Kenyans are burdened by debt, relying on fuliza, borrowing from friends and family without repaying, and businesses and employees alike are often dependent on loans. Even the government survives on borrowing!”

The gospel musician also challenged the public to reflect on their role in fake life culture, “While I don’t condone living a fake life, aren’t we the same people who promoted the ‘fake it till you make it’ mentality? Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.”
