CHEF MALIHA MOHAMMED CALLS ON GOVERNMENT TO RECOGNISE HER GUINNESS WORLD RECORD ATTEMPTS

Celebrated Kenyan chef Maliha Mohammed, who recently made history by attempting break two Guinness World Records for the longest cooking marathon, is calling on the Kenyan government to recognise her accomplishments.

In an emotional post on her social media platforms, Chef Maliha shared her disappointment at the lack of acknowledgement from her own country. “I never thought I would have to make this video, but today, I am speaking my truth,” she began.

I, Maliha Mohammed, a proud Kenyan chef, broke the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon twice. I put my heart, sweat, and endless hours into making history, not just for myself, but for Kenya. But instead of being recognized and celebrated in my own country, I have been met with silence.”

Chef Maliha’s attempts, which involved gruelling hours of continuous cooking. However, despite her historic feat, she has yet to receive formal recognition from Kenyan authorities. “While other nations honor their record-breakers, I have waited in vain for acknowledgment from my county and government,” she continued. “Why is Kenyan talent only celebrated after the world recognizes it?

In her plea, the chef called on key leaders to take notice of her achievements and support homegrown talent. She specifically addressed President William RutoFirst Lady Rachel Ruto, former Cabinet Secretary for Sports and Arts Ababu Namwamba, and Mombasa County Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir, urging them to celebrate her accomplishments and inspire future generations.

Today, I am calling on President William Ruto, First Lady Rachel Ruto, CS Ababu Namwamba, and Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir will you recognize me? Will you support Kenyan talent?” she asked.

Chef Maliha also took the opportunity to encourage young chefs and dreamers across Kenya to pursue their passions relentlessly, “To every young chef and dreamer out there, never stop pushing. Even when the world ignores you, keep going. Your talent matters. Let’s make Kenya proud. 🇰🇪
