PS JONATHAN MUEKE SURPRISES DJ PINYE WITH STATE-OF-THE-ART DJ DECKS AS BIRTHDAY GIFT

Principal Secretary for the State Department of Livestock DevelopmentJonathan Mueke, gifted DJ Pinye a full set of premium DJ decks as a birthday present.

The surprise gift, which included Pioneer’s Cross Twelves turntables and an S11 mixerDJ Pinye, a household name in Kenya’s entertainment industry, shared the touching story behind the gift, detailing how Mueke, a long-time friend, orchestrated the surprise. “People close to me know my passion for DJing isn’t what it used to be,” he wrote. “When I first started, I couldn’t go a day without mixing. If I did, it felt like withdrawal. Now, I can go for months, and it doesn’t faze me.

The story began in December when Mueke reached out to Pinye, expressing his interest in learning how to DJ. “Yo, Pinye, I want to DJ. Can you suggest the best equipment?” Mueke asked. After a detailed discussion, Pinye recommended the top-tier Pioneer Cross Twelves turntables and the S11 mixer, known for their ability to blend vinyl authenticity with cutting-edge digital technology.

Unbeknownst to Pinye, Mueke had been saving up to purchase the equipment not for himself, but as a birthday gift for his friend. The two visited the store together to unbox the decks, with Pinye assuming he was helping Mueke set up his new gear. It was during the drive home that Mueke revealed the truth. “Pinye, I have a confession,” he said. “Happy Birthday! The decks were actually for you.”

Overwhelmed with emotion, Pinye described the moment as life-changing. “At that moment, I invented speechlessness,” he wrote. “Imagine that same eight-year-old crying because KFC was closed—except my tears were of joy, disbelief, and shock. It had been decades since I got new decks. Unreal.

Since receiving the gift, DJ Pinye has rekindled his love for DJing, “Since getting these decks, I spin every single day. If I don’t, I feel sick,” he shared.

Pinye also called Mueke a true friend and a blessing in his life. “Everyone needs a Tom in their life,” Pinye wrote, referencing a popular saying. “Well, can we now agree everyone needs a Jona?”
