U.S. BASED KENYAN ACTRESS CHRISTINE WAWIRA ANNOUNCES PLANS TO RELOCATE TO KENYA
Christine Wawira, a U.S.-based Kenyan actress with an impressive resume of over 17 Hollywood movies and TV shows, has announced her decision to leave the United States and return to her homeland, Kenya.
In a candid statement, Wawira said she is done with American and her desire to reconnect with her roots and contribute to her community. “The American dream is now to get the hell out of America,” Wawira declared. “I’m moving back to Kenya to pour into my people. I’m done with America. Ain’t nothing exciting about being over here. Especially while Black. America isn’t what we were taught it was. Many people are moving out and enjoying a new life and freedom in other countries.”
Wawira, who has made a name for herself in Hollywood, shared highlights of her successful career, including her breakout role in the 2014 romantic comedy Hola America. She has since appeared in popular TV shows such as Modern Family and Justice with Judge Mablean, as well as films like Night Call and Hacksaw. Her performance in Night Call earned her the Best Actress Award at the 2016 Diaspora Entertainment Awards and Recognition (DEAR).
