AWINJA MOURNS DISCO MATANGA ACTOR MZEE KILASI 

The Kenyan entertainment community is in mourning following the passing of beloved actor Mzee Kilasi, famously known as Gora Mbili from the hit show Disco Matanga. 

The news was confirmed by producer and co-star Awinja, who shared a heartfelt tribute to the late veteran actor. Awinja remembered Mzee Kilasi as a gifted performer who brought authenticity and joy to his role. “To our #DiscoMatanga fans and family, it is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of one of our own, Mzee Kilasi (Gora Mbili). A natural! Always punctual—you would assume he’d been acting all his life,” she wrote.

She recalled his vibrant personality, sharing: “Mzee ma vaibu, stories non-stop, vile ameishi Mombasa and more. I’m at peace knowing he enjoyed every bit of shooting Disco Matanga. He always told me, ‘Thank you for the chance,’ since it gave him something to look forward to and kept him busy.“

She concluded her tribute with a touching farewell, “Rest easy, Gora Mbili. Thank you for your time here, you will be dearly missed .”
