CHEBET RONO ON SURVIVING TWO ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIPS
Content creator Chebet Rono has opened up about abusive relationships, battling alcoholism, and reclaiming her mental health.
In a social media revelation, Chebet talked about the challenges she faced in her personal life, “When I turned 24 last year, I had no idea the roller coaster life was going to be,” she shared. “As much as I was making content for people to laugh and be happy, my internal world was crumbling. I had no real friends, low discernment, and two abusive relationships both physically and emotionally that forced me to look inward. I also struggled with alcohol, relapsing after three good months, and I just couldn’t understand why I couldn’t stop drinking.”
Chebet’s journey to healing began with a decision to be honest with herself and return to the basics. She started with simple steps like exercise to better understand her body and gradually pushed herself to participate in fitness camps. By 2025, she made a conscious decision to prioritise her healing. “In January, I decided to construct a vision board and I wrote down a list of everything I need to do to become the best version of myself, and that included therapy.”

The content creator who has been in therapy for six months revealed she is dong better, “My therapist had pushed me to start doing things that I love. She got me back to swimming. We had made a bet to do at least one risky thing every month, and I started doing ice cold flanges now. And another thing about therapy I love is I don’t have to do life alone, and I feel like I can track my progress.”
Adding, “I think it’s one of the best decisions I ever made, just for my mental health and to overall reduce the suffering that life can be. I’m proud to say that it was one of the investments this year that really changed my life for the better.”
