FILMMAKER PHILIPPE BRESSON OPENS UP ABOUT CHALLENGES OF WORKING WITH KENYAN ACTORS

By  |

Renowned filmmaker Philippe Bresson has candidly shared his experiences and challenges while working with Kenyan actors in the film industry

In a recent interview with Cheptoek Boyo on Buzz Central Podcast, Bresson said that some actors are unprofessional. Bresson, who has worked on numerous international and local projects, expressed his frustration with the lack of punctuality among some Kenyan actors. “Timekeeping is a major issue. If we set a call time for 6:30 am and someone arrives at 10 am, they’ve cost me three or four hours of production money,” he said.

The filmmaker also addressed the growing trend of actors taking to social media to vent their frustrations over missed opportunities. There are people who really want opportunities, but you can’t force it. Some actors go on social media to rant because they weren’t involved in a project. They even share my number and encourage people to ‘greet’ me. This is not the way to handle such situations,” Bresson explained.

He talked about the importance of professionalism and using proper channels to address grievances. “We, too, face challenges. There are clients who owe us a lot of money, but we don’t take to social media to rant. We follow proper channels to resolve issues,” he added.
