Lilian Ng’ang’a, former First Lady of Machakos County, has shared the reasons behind her break-up with ex-partner Alfred Mutua during a recent appearance on the Dr. Ofweneke Podcast

Lilian discussed the challenges of their relationship, and what led her to move on with musician Juliani. Lilian revealed that she met Mutua when she was 25 years old and became the First Lady of Machakos at 35. “When I got to my early 30s, I felt there was more out there, and I wanted to break free. Our fights started when he was like, ‘You can’t, we are this team.’ When you get into your 30s as a woman, you want more for yourself.”

She described feeling a sense of emptiness during that period, which led her to seek guidance from an older friend. “I talked to an older friend and told him I was feeling empty. He introduced me to philosophy, and I found so much purpose and meaning in my life. It gave me more courage,” she explained.

When asked about her relationship with musician Juliani, Lilian highlighted the differences between the two men while acknowledging their shared brilliance. “The two men are so different but brilliant people. My weakness, I have come to realise, is that I’m attracted to intelligence. I like a man who stimulates my mind, someone who can teach me something I don’t know,” she said.
