KING AND QUEEN OF THE NETHERLANDS ARRIVE IN KENYA FOR FOUR-DAY STATE VISIT

His Majesty King Willem-Alexander and Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands have commenced a four-day state visit to Kenya, after arriving at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 8 pm on Monday. 

The royal couple was warmly received by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki upon their arrival. During their visit, the King and Queen are scheduled to meet with President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi, on Tuesday morning. Accompanying them is a high-level delegation comprising Dutch ministers and business leaders, aiming to explore investment opportunities and deepen bilateral ties between the two nations.

The delegation includes representatives from companies specialising in agriculture, horticulture, irrigation, water infrastructure, and sustainable financing. According to a statement from the Netherlands Embassy in Kenya, the visit highlights the Dutch government’s commitment to enhancing trade relations, strengthening food security, and promoting sustainable water solutions.

This four-day business mission (March 17-20) aligns with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands’ dedication to fostering trade, advancing food security, and supporting sustainable water management initiatives,” the statement read.

The Dutch government said that the visit aims to strengthen collaboration in Kenya’s agricultural and water management sectors, contributing to sustainable economic growth. As part of the agenda, the Netherlands Embassy hosted a seminar on Monday, focusing on investment opportunities, public-private partnerships, and innovative solutions to enhance food production and water resource management.
