ACTOR EDDIE MBUGUA BREAKS SILENCE ON BEING LABELED ‘DIFFICULT’ IN KENYAN FILM INDUSTRY
Kenyan actor Eddie Mbugua has candidly addressed his reputation as a ‘difficult actor’ to work with, while paying glowing tribute to acclaimed TV producer Philippe Bresson in a social media post.
Mbugua, known for his roles in hit shows like Single Kiasi and My Two Wives, revealed, “I never kowtow to mediocrity, therefore I’m considered a ‘nuisance’ and ‘difficult’. If you don’t know your sh!t, don’t waste my flipping time and/or talent!“
The actor reserved special praise for Bresson, with whom he’s collaborated since 2014, “He’s the only Producer not afraid to work with me… I hold Phil in high regard, as he’s amongst the few producers that understand the business principle in performance arts, moreover, mastered the discipline of consistency.“
Mbugua shared their 11-year working relationship across multiple successful productions including: Better Days, My Two Wives, Socialites, Kash Money and Single Kiasi.
Describing their unique working dynamic, he said, “I never know which role they’ll throw at me… but we always work it through, within a harmonious bidirectionally respectful atmosphere.”
He concluded with high praise for Bresson, “My thanks to a sedulous humble man, whose modesty monumentally mismatches his accomplishments – but his excellence unmatched. Those that know you, salute you.“
