Detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau Nyanza Region, in collaboration with Nyando DCI officers, have arrested two women and recovered a Canik pistol following a viral WhatsApp post in which one of the suspects threatened men who dared to dump her.

The operation was launched after Sharon Auma posted a photo on her WhatsApp status brandishing a pistol, accompanied by a chilling warning. Acting on intelligence, detectives tracked her down to Awasi town, where she was arrested.

During interrogation, Auma led officers to a rented two-bedroom house belonging to her accomplice, Nancy Atieno Obura. A search of the premises uncovered the pistol wrapped in clothing and hidden in a basin under the bed along with an empty magazine and a fake motorcycle number plate (KMGG 805M).

Both suspects are currently in custody as detectives pursue further leads to determine the firearm’s origin and possible links to other criminal activities. They will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.
