EVELYN WANJIRU TALKS INFERTILITY STRUGGLE BEFORE MOTHERHOOD

By  |

Gospel artist Evelyn Wanjiru has opened up about her painful battle with infertility before finally welcoming her miracle child

The Asante singer shared intimate details of her struggle. Wanjiru revealed the emotional rollercoaster of her journey, recalling how medical treatments brought monthly disappointments. “I started getting my periods when I was put on medication but I would cry. I used to get mad, I looked at people who abort or dump their children and I just say you are the God of wonders,” she confessed.

The singer spoke of how painful it was to see others take pregnancy for granted while she pleaded with God for just one conception – even if it ended in miscarriage – just to prove she could conceive. “I used to tell God to just give me one child to even have a miscarriage so that my husband known I’m fruitful. I was scared going to the village because auntie’s would look. It really affected my mum but my in-laws stood with me and really prayed a lot.”

As the ninth year of marriage approached, her father-in-law prophetically suggested they name their first child “Mshindi” (Victor), though Wanjiru admits she initially preferred more modern names like Jayden.

In her spacious home, the emptiness of unused bedrooms served as a constant reminder of what was missing. “I had everything, our house is big but the bedrooms were empty.10 years into their marriage the couple welcomed a son, Mshindi Akweyu Agundabweni.
