Fresh analytics from Spotify demonstrate worldwide expansion for Kenya’s music industry, with local artists achieving unprecedented international reach in 2024. The streaming giant’s latest findings confirm Kenya’s emergence as a powerhouse in the global music marketplace.

Spotify’s data indicates Kenyan musicians were discovered by new listeners a staggering 95 million times this year alone. This explosive growth spans multiple genres, from the gritty rhythms of Gengetone to modern Afro-pop fusions and Benga’s timeless melodies, all resonating with audiences across continents.

Over 100 Kenyan acts were featured on Spotify’s prestigious curated playlists. International listeners devoted 120,000+ hours to Kenyan music streams. Worldwide users created 16+ million playlists featuring Kenyan artists. Local consumption of Kenyan music skyrocketed 277% since 2021. International streams of Kenyan music grew 94% in three years and Overseas plays for Kenyan women artists jumped 98% in 2024.
