HYENA ATTACK SURVIVOR IRENE WAMBUA SET TO UNDERGO EYE SURGERY

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has announced that Irene Wambua Mbithe, the woman who tragically lost an eye during a vicious hyena attack. 

Following through on his pledge of assistance, Sonko’s team successfully accompanied Mbithe to Lions Eye Hospital for comprehensive medical evaluation, and is set to undergo an  artificial eye transplant surgery scheduled for Friday morning.

The former governor said, “We do not engage in politics or public relations with people’s lives and wellbeing.” His intervention came after being deeply moved by Mbithe’s heartbreaking account during her appearance on the Shajara na Lulu program.

In addition to securing medical care, Sonko has initiated legal proceedings to ensure justice for the victim. His team is currently working with a panel of experienced lawyers to pursue appropriate compensation from the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) while collaborating with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to bring all responsible parties to account.
