‘I WAS 5 MONTHS PREGNANT’ MARY BIKETI REVEALS SHE HAD A MISCARRIAGE DUE TO PUBLIC PRESSURE

Mary Biketi, the partner of Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and MSMEs Wycliffe Oparanya, has for the first time publicly addressed the challenges of their relationship, including the tragic loss of her unborn child due to public scrutiny.

Speaking candidly on Mwende Macharia’s Podcast, Biketi shared intimate details about the pressures of dating a high-profile politician and the emotional toll it has taken on her life.

Biketi disclosed that she suffered a miscarriage at five months pregnant after her relationship with Oparanya was exposed. “The photos were leaked, and if they were not, no one would have known. I had no reason to post; we have been together for so long. I was five months pregnant then, but I miscarried because of the pressure. It was really bad.“

When asked about her relationship with Oparanya’s other wives, she said respect for them, “Honestly, those women, I respect them so much, and I wouldn’t want to drag them into my issues.”

She cautioned women against entering polygamous unions unless they are emotionally prepared. “I wouldn’t advise women to get into polygamous relationships because we are all different. There are those who can persevere and others who cannot. If you don’t have the heart for it, don’t put yourself in such situations.“

She also addressed harsh online comments about their relationship. “He has empowered me, and now I am okay on my own. The harshest comment I’ve received is that if it weren’t for Oparanya, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Others say I’m having an affair with an old man enough to be my grandfather.“
