OKOTH OBADO REVEALS WIFE PROPOSED GETTING SHARON OTIENO HOUSE AFTER CONFESSING AFFAIR
Former Migori Governor Okoth Obado has defended himself against accusations of killing his lover, Sharon Otieno. Obado, who was testifying in the murder trial on Wednesday, admitted that he was in a relationship with Sharon.
He acknowledged that he was responsible for her pregnancy. Obado however, said he was not willing to marry her. “The relationship between Sharon and I was an open secret, and staff within the Migori county government were aware of the affair.”
He later decided to confess after his wife, “I open up that l truly had an affair with Sharon, and I offered my apology. I will not state the exact words I used,” he said.
Obado said his wife had offered to give Sharon one of their houses, a gesture he declined, insisting he had no intention of marrying a second wife. Sharon had reportedly agreed to move into a rental unit, a transition that Obado claimed she was comfortable with. However, he noted that although she was content with the arrangement, she preferred a house in either Kisumu or Nairobi.
The former governor told trial judge Justice Cecilia Githua that he was not in any way involved in Sharon’s murder. Sharon was killed in 2018 in Homa Bay County. Obado, his personal assistant, Michael Oyamo and Caspal Obiero were later charged with her murder. They have all denied the charges.
“I did not kill Sharon Otieno. I did not conspire with my two co-accused persons or anyone to kill the late Sharon Otieno. I did not procure anybody to kill the late Sharon Otieno,” Obado said in his testimony.
