ABEL MUTUA DOMINATES AMVCAS WITH TWO MAJOR AWARDS

Celebrated Kenyan filmmaker, writer, and actor Abel Mutua has made history at the the 11th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCAs), securing two major wins for Best Indigenous Language (East Africa) and Best Writing in a TV Series

The awards, which recognise outstanding talent in African film and television, highlight Abel’s exceptional storytelling and the collaborative effort behind his acclaimed projects, Untying Kantai and Makosa ni Yangu.

Taking to social media, Abel thanked his supporters, stating, “Four years ago, thanks to your unwavering support, we started this film journey. These right here are the fruits of your labour. A true depiction of The Wakurugenzi Effect. Two nominations, both converted into wins. Our region’s flag is up high. Thank you, @africamagic. Through you, Africa gets to know that The East has something to offer.

For Untying Kantai, Abel credited the Phil-It Productions Think Tank, co-writers Mercy Mutisya and Director Kenji, as well as creative contributors Shigwanshiqo and Dennis Mugo, for their brilliant storytelling. He also praised directors Phil Director, Michael Munyoki, and Director Kenji for bringing the vision to life, alongside the entire cast and crew for their dedication.

For Makosa ni Yangu, he honoured the cast, including Pambo Mel, Pascal Tokodi, Brenda Michelle, Qamuyu Beats, and Obra, for their powerful performances. He also lauded the crew, led by Denise Madam Producer, Mkay M, Michael Munyoki, and Mohamed Zain, for their tireless work behind the scenes.
