BODY BY DESIGN ANNOUNCES CLOSURE OF NAIROBI FACILITY, TRANSFERS ALL SERVICES TO TANZANIA
The directors of Body By Design Kenya, a prominent cosmetic surgery clinic, have announced the dissolution of their management partnership and the indefinite closure of their Nairobi facility.
All services will now be transferred to their branch in Tanzania, with an additional local facility to be announced soon. This decision follows the tragic death of Lucy Wambui Ng’ang’a in October 2024, after undergoing liposuction and Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedures at the clinic. An autopsy revealed that her intestines were perforated during surgery, leading to fatal complications. The incident sparked public outcry and an ongoing legal case, with the clinic’s operators currently out on bail.
In an official statement, Body By Design Kenya confirmed the cessation of its partnership with Omnicare Medical, where its surgeons previously operated. The letter stated, “We wish to inform you that Body By Design Kenya will cease its partnership with Omnicare Medical due to its current closure. Our loyalty to you remains our top priority. Going forward, we will refer clients to our branch in Tanzania and a local facility that will be announced soon.”
The statement further read, “We are committed to providing access to talented cosmetic and plastic surgeons worldwide while upholding the same standards of excellence you expect from us. Please note there will be changes in our directorship and management, but our dedication to exceptional results and client satisfaction will remain unchanged.“
The closure marks a shift for the celebrity-endorsed clinic, which had gained popularity for its cosmetic procedures. The move to Tanzania comes amid heightened scrutiny over patient safety and regulatory compliance in Kenya’s cosmetic surgery industry.
