COMEDIAN BASHIR HALAIKI EXPLAINS WHY BUTITA WAS BLOCKED FROM DAVE CHAPPELLE SHOW DESPITE PAYING

Popular Kenyan comedian Bashir Kiptoo Yusuf, also known as Bashir Halaiki, has lifted the lid on the controversial blocking of fellow comedians including Eddie Butita from attending Dave Chappelle’s recent show in Kenya, despite having paid for tickets.

Speaking candidly on the Buzz Central Podcast with Cheptoek BoyoHalaiki stopped short of naming the event organiser but made explosive claims about deliberate exclusion and industry politics.

The comedian revealed a long-standing feud between the organiser and several comedians, including himself. “Me and the organiser among other comedians have beef with him. He is not a good person, and I don’t respect him.”

Butita reportedly purchased a sold-out ticket, only to be denied entry under the pretext that media people weren’t allowed a claim Halaiki dismissed as hate. “He wanted to make a point and didn’t want comedians to go to that show. Even Eddie ButIta bought a ticket which sold out within an hour but the moment they saw it, they called and told him ‘they don’t allow media people’ and refunded his money.”

The comedian alleged that the event’s lineup featured only inexperienced acts “Curtain-raisers with just three months in comedy. When I saw the organizer was involved, I knew I wouldn’t go. He used the event as a weapon. I wanted to perform, but even experienced comedians weren’t picked.”
