‘DAD HAS 10 KIDS WITH 6 WOMEN’ BIEN REVEALS POLYGAMOUS UPBRINGING IN BREAKFAST CLUB INTERVIEW

Kenyan superstar Bien, who is currently on his U.S. tour, talked about his polygamous upbringing during a recent interview with The Breakfast Club. 

The musician shared intimate details about his family, Bien revealed that his father had 10 children with six different women, two of whom were officially married to him. 

As the last born, Bien explained how his father maintained relationships across households, “They all knew about each other, when my dad bought us spoons for our house, he also bought for the other house,” he shared.

The singer emphasised that polygamy in traditional African societies was rooted in community needs, “Back then, polygamy had everything to do with community. It worked because of the societal structure, more children meant more labourers for farming and herding,” Bien explained. “In some cases, a wife who couldn’t have children would bring in a ‘helper’ to grow the family. There were even cultures that practiced polyandry (one woman with multiple husbands).”

Bien acknowledged that while the system functioned effectively in the past, it may not align with modern values.
