DADDY OWEN OPENS UP ON WHY HE KEEPS HIS KIDS OFF SOCIAL MEDIA
Gospel artiste Daddy Owen has opened on his decision to shield his children from the public eye. Speaking during a candid interview on Buzz Central Podcast with Cheptoek Boyo, the celebrated musician revealed his approach to parenting in the digital age.
Daddy Owen compared the struggles faced by celebrity children and pastors’ kids (PKs), noting the unfair scrutiny they often endure. “Fame is a monster,” he said. “I also relate to pastors’ kids. It’s the pastor who has been called, not the children, yet judgment mostly falls on them. Society assumes that just because you’re a pastor’s kid, you must be born again or live the same life as your parents.”
The award-winning artiste shared the consequences of exposing children to social media fame. “I have many celebrity friends who put their kids on social media, but I find it hard to do the same because it feels like I’m choosing their path for them,” he explained. “Can you imagine you child becomes so famous and in school they are not performing well, that thing will affect them.”
His belief in allowing his children the freedom to carve their own identities. “My kids will choose what they want to become. My role is to support them, not impose my expectations on them just because I think it’s right.“
