Kenyan-American photographer Polly Irungu has been named the Junior Photographer for Maryland Governor Wes Moore, marking another milestone in her career in public service.

Irungu, who previously served as Photo Editor for Vice President Kamala Harris and as a Biden-Harris White House Photographer, announced her new role, “Hi friends! I’m thrilled to share that I’ve joined Maryland’s Executive Office of the Governor as the Junior Photographer for @govwesmoore! It is an incredible honor to continue my journey in public service, documenting the people, moments, and stories that shape the Moore-Miller Administration.

Irungu’s appointment follows the conclusion of her tenure with the Biden-Harris administration, where she played an important role in capturing historic moments.

Reflecting on her time working with Vice President Harris, she said, It’s been an honor to witness, through thousands of photos, the impact Vice President Kamala Harris has had on our country. Serving as her Photo Editor was a humbling and rewarding experience. I owe so much to Lawrence Jackson, VP’s Director of Photography, for trusting me in this role. As VP Kamala Harris always says, ‘hard work is good work,’ and I’m proud of the work we accomplished.”
