LAWYER DONALD KIPKORIR OPENS UP ABOUT NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCE

Renowned lawyer Donald Kipkorir has shared a personal account of his battle with COVID-19 in November 2020, revealing how the experience reshaped his outlook on life, work, and success.

In an emotional post, Kipkorir disclosed that he spent an entire month in isolation at Aga Khan University Hospital, facing the grim possibility of death. “I knew I may not survive but I refused to think about dying! It was the worst experience. And after being discharged after a month, Long Covid affected my nerves & I couldn’t write or walk properly for over four months,” he recounted

The near-fatal illness led to a shift in his priorities. Upon returning to work in May 2021Kipkorir implemented a radical change in his firm’s operations: a strict 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM work schedule, Monday to Friday making his office one of the few, if not the only, businesses globally to close at midday. “My solitary stay in AKUH allowed me to reflect on life, vanity of riches, love of family, loyalty of few BFFs & duplicity of many others,” he said.

Kipkorir now embraces a philosophy of balance, choosing to savour life’s pleasures such as afternoon wine and meals without guilt, knowing he has fulfilled his daily responsibilities. “When you see me breaking bread or taking wine every afternoon, be rest assured, I have done my work for the day! It was also then that I decided I will never hunger for material possessions or money or love.  Our lives are written in the stars. What is ours will always be.”
