Migori County Member of Parliament, Hon. Fatuma Zainab Mohammed, has addressed the recent incident during President William Ruto’s visit to Migori on Sunday, where a shoe was thrown in his direction.

The MP dismissed claims of hostility, stating that the act was misinterpreted and that the crowd only sought to greet the president.

Speaking during the event, Hon. Mohammed expressed the community’s admiration for the head of state, saying, “Mr. President, the commotion you have seen Kuria people love you and wanted to come near, but they were blocked. There is no problem here. We love peace and reject violence.”

Hon. Mohammed further reiterated Kuria people’s commitment to peace and urged media outlets to report the incident accurately, without sensationalism. “The press should not report their own narratives. What happened was that the people wanted to greet you with their hands but could not reach you. If you find time, you should return and shake every youth’s hand.”
