Members of Parliament from across the political spectrum set aside their differences on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, gathering at Safari Park Hotel for the National Prayer Breakfast

The bipartisan assembly of legislators called upon God to heal the nation from the scourge of social media toxicity that has plagued public discourse.

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula opened the event saying, “The National Prayer Breakfast has grown beyond mere tradition. This year’s theme, ‘Rise and Rebuild,’ challenges us as leaders and citizens to awaken to our collective responsibility.”

Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi asked God to cast out the evil spirit behind the abuse of social media. “Our youth are hopeless, and we pray that the spirit of social media running our country is dealt with. May we stand for what is best for our nation and future generations,” Elachi said.

She added, “We want to confess, as legislators, that we must indeed address that sector. We shall have the courage to stand and believe in what is good for our country. Father, forgive us.” President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto graced the National Prayer Breakfast.
