NAIVAS SUPERMARKET DENIES CLAIMS OF SELLING EXPIRED PRODUCTS, VOWS TO RESIST EXTORTION TACTICS

Naivas Supermarket, Kenya’s leading retail chain, has strongly refuted false claims circulating on social media and informal platforms regarding the alleged sale of expired products and the purported closure of its branches by authorities.

In an official statement, the supermarket reassured its customers that no expired products have been found on its shelves, disclosing its strict quality control measures and compliance with all health and safety regulations. “We would like to reassure our customers, partners and the general public that no expired products have been found on our shelves, and we maintain stringent internal quality control and stock management systems across all our branches to ensure product safety and compliance with health regulations.”

Contrary to rumours, no Naivas store has been shut down by regulatory bodies. The supermarket is pursuing legal action against parties spreading misinformation. Naivas statement said its strict anti-bribery and anti-corruption policies, refusing to yield to intimidation tactics.

The clarification follows reports that the Nairobi County Health Committee, led by MCA Maurice Ochieng, allegedly ordered the closure of Naivas branches over claims of expired products. “All our stores remain fully operational and compliant with all national and county level standards. State by the Kenya Bureau of Standards KBS, the Ministry of Health and relevant bodies, the circulating claims are entirely false, misleading and potentially harmful, not just to our brand, but to our valued customer who rely on us to for daily essentials.”

Naivas is working with legal counsel to take formal action against those spreading false information, protecting both its brand integrity and consumer trust.
