Kenyan comedian Bashir Kiptoo Yusuf, better known as Bashir Halaiki, has shared intimate details about his dramatic career shift from aeronautical engineering to comedy during a revealing interview on Buzz Central Podcast with Cheptoek Boyo.

Halaiki disclosed that even his mother still views his comedy career as just a phase.” His journey into comedy began unexpectedly, “I used to watch a lot of horror movies and to get over them at night I would watch sitcoms so that I can sleep,” he revealed.

When questioned about comedy’s financial viability, he said it pays,The key to being happy is to leave women alone. I’m a simple person. I do comedy, go home to eat ramen and eggs, and sleep. My value is tied to who I am, not what I have. You find people doing so much to impress others. I worked hard early in life to find self-worth so I wouldn’t need to compensate with material things.

Halaiki acknowledged comedy’s challenges but stood his choice. “Comedy has been faithful to me. At some point it was not working out but I stuck with it. Now I know I made the right decision.
