TV PRODUCER EDU GEE REVEALS WHY HE’LL NEVER SHOOT ROMANTIC FILMS
Popular Kenyan filmmaker Edwin Nyongesa, also known as Edu Gee, recently opened up about his creative choices in a candid interview on Buzz Central Podcast with host Cheptoek Boyo.
The TV producer, known for his gripping thrillers and hard-hitting dramas, revealed why he deliberately steers clear of romantic films. “I focus on genres far from romantic films, I’d rather do thrillers, dramas, and action because that’s where my strengths lie,” Edu Gee stated. “There are brilliant filmmakers who excel at love stories; let them handle that. I know what I do best, and I stick to it.“
The filmmaker also teased an upcoming project, confirming he is currently shooting a horror film, one that promises to be “a bit dark” but carries a deeper societal message. “Art is very subjective,” he explained. “My goal isn’t just to entertain for entertainment’s sake. Even with horror, the idea is to provoke thought and pass on a meaningful message.”
Edu Gee’s filmography reflects his preference for intense, thought-provoking storytelling, with works like On Air, a crime thriller based on real events, showcasing his talent for high-stakes drama.
