CCTV PROOF: CITAM DENIES LOCKING OUT PROTESTERS DURING DEMONSTRATIONS

Christ is the Answer Ministries (CITAM) has disputed social media claims that its Valley Road assembly refused shelter to demonstrators during Wednesday’s anti-government protests.

The church said a review of CCTV footage and security logs showed no evidence of individuals being denied entry on June 25, when crowds gathered to commemorate victims of last year’s finance bill unrest.

We received calls from people who wanted help, and we directed them to CITAM Valley Road. We were ready for them throughout until 1:30 am, and no one came for help,” the statement reads.

Deputy Bishop Rev. Justus Mugambi reiterated CITAM’s policy of providing refuge, citing the church’s history of crisis response, including aid during the Embakasi fire and Mai Mahiu floods.

“CITAM Valley Road was not easily accessible during the protests, as surrounding roads were barricaded, which made it almost impossible for a demonstrator to get to CITAM Valley Road,” part of the statement reads.

The allegations surfaced on platform X amid nationwide demonstrations, with some users accusing religious institutions of failing to protect vulnerable protesters.
