FRED MACHOKA SUES ROBERT ALAI FOR SH60 MILLION OVER DEFAMATION

Media personality Fred Obachi Machoka, has taken legal action against Nairobi County Assembly representative Robert Alai. 

Obachi is seeking Sh60 million in compensation for reputation damage from what Machoka’s legal team describes as malicious and unfounded social media statements.

The dispute originates from a Facebook publication that appeared on Alai’s verified account. “@Fred Obachi Machoka OGW I feel your ethnic rage. It’s just ethnic. Your problem is supply of ARVs not Presidency… Does HIV bring insanity nowadays?”

Through his legal counsel Danstan Omari, Machoka maintains that the statement is false and was deliberately crafted to injure his reputation as a media figure. 

“The assertions made by the defendant are entirely baseless, defamatory, and damaging to our client’s long-standing reputation as a respected media personality,” reads part of the petition.

In a sworn affidavit, Machoka denied the allegations, saying that he is HIV negative, has never taken antiretroviral medication, and has never been diagnosed with any form of mental illness.
